The Adaptive AI Interview

See how SpecKit asks focused follow-up questions to clarify roles, workflows, constraints, and scope before generating planning documents.

Clarify the unknowns

You do not need to draft a long specification before using SpecKit. The interview starts from your product description and asks focused follow-up questions when important context is missing. Its purpose is to expose decisions that would otherwise remain hidden until development.

Useful answers describe intent and constraints in natural language. You can explain who uses the product, what a successful workflow looks like, which actions require authorization, whether payments are immediate or deferred, and which external services are required.

  1. 01

    Input your idea

Describe the product and its audience. For example: “A booking platform for independent laundry businesses and their customers.” Include known constraints, but do not worry about formal formatting.

  2. 02

    Answer focused questions

Respond to questions about roles, business rules, edge cases, integrations, or operational expectations. If a proposed answer is not suitable, provide a custom answer in your own words.

  3. 03

    Review the blueprint

SpecKit combines the original description and interview answers into a relevant document bundle. Review the requirements, data, API, architecture, design, and planning artifacts that apply to the project.

Good interview answers stay testable

Prefer observable behavior over broad adjectives. “An administrator can suspend an account and the user can no longer start a session” gives a team more to work with than “administrators have powerful controls.” Record open decisions honestly instead of forcing certainty where none exists.

After generation, use impact analysis when a requirement changes, or return to the documentation hub.
